Canna Cabana workers join union – UFCW Locals 175 & 633

Innisfil, Ont. – September 12, 2023 – Workers at Canna Cabana in Innisfil, Ontario, have voted Union Yes and are the fifth location organized and represented by UFCW Locals 175 & 633.

Fifteen workers at the Innisfil location were excited to join us as members of UFCW Locals 175 & 633 so they can start enjoying the benefits and representation that workers at other Canna Cabana locations have. These new members look forward to negotiating a strong collective agreement with the help of our team of seasoned Union advocates.

“Every worker, regardless of industry, deserves to be treated fairly, with dignity and respect, and cannabis retail workers are no exception to that,” said Local 175 President Shawn Haggerty.

Workers in the Cannabis industry want better for themselves and their industry. Budtenders are an integral part of any retail Cannabis business; they are the frontline contacts for customers and have a wealth of knowledge and expertise about the products they sell.

Priorities for their first agreement as Union members include increased job security, enhanced Health & Safety protocols, better wages and benefits, and protections from harassment and favouritism in the workplace.

UFCW Canada Locals 175 & 633 represent more than 70,000 hard-working Ontarians in almost every sector of the economy. To learn more about the outstanding work of UFCW 175 & 633, visit the Local Union's website.
