First collective agreement for Manitoba No Frills workers – UFCW 832
Winnipeg, Man. – February 22, 2024 – UFCW 832 members at No Frills locations across Manitoba have voted in favour of their first standalone collective bargaining agreement.
Prior to this, UFCW 832’s 550 members at No Frills were part of a larger Loblaw bargaining unit. The two bargaining units were created to allow the union to address and work through each group’s distinct concerns and provide both sides with a stronger voice at their respective bargaining tables.
“Our bargaining committee members stayed focussed and worked very hard to achieve some major wins for all No Frills members,” says Marie Buchan, lead negotiator for No Frills bargaining and UFCW 832’s secretary treasurer. “This is their first contract that is focused just on their needs and we’ve established a solid foundation that we can build on the next time we bargain.”
The new five-year agreement includes higher wages, including increases as high as $5.00/hour over the five-year term, enhance health and welfare benefits for full-time and part-time members, and improved contract language.
