Cannabis workers join union – UFCW 1006A
Hamilton, Ont. – June 7, 2024 – Workers at Sessions Cannabis, Red Hill location in Hamilton, recently voted to join UFCW 1006A.
The new bargaining unit consists of 10 members working as budtenders and key leads. The newest members sought to join the union because of key issues such as benefits, health and safety concerns, staffing, scheduling, workload and increased responsibilities with no additional pay.
“With the protection and security of UFCW 1006A representation, cannabis workers are transforming their lives and workplaces for the better,” said Local 1006A President Wayne Hanley, “We are proud to welcome our newest members from Sessions Cannabis in Hamilton.”
