Quebec City library strike ends – UFCW 501
Quebec – June 27, 2024 – At a meeting held on June 14, 2024, 52% of members of the United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 501 (UFCW 501) at the Institut Canadien de Québec (ICQ) accepted their employer's overall offer, putting an end to a 106-day strike that began on March 1, 2024.
Here's a summary of the agreement:
For year 2023:
- 4% increase in the salary scale with retroactive payment for employees in service at the time the agreement was signed.
During year 2024:
- January 1, 2024: Deletion of a level and addition of a new final level (+4.5%).
- One-level advancement for each employee.
- Addition of a $2.00/hr premium applicable upon signature with possible retroactive payments.
- Creation of 2 mobile jobs in the Ste-Foy - Sillery - Cap-Rouge - St-Sacrement sector after schedule revision in 2024.
- Signing bonus of $500 per employee with a bonus of $25 per year of seniority.
For year 2025:
- Deletion of a level and addition of a new final level (+4.5%).
- One-level advancement for each employee.
- Sick leave increase from 75% to 100% of the unused surplus of the sick leave bank for regular employees.
For year 2026:
- 3% increase to the 2025 salary scale.
ICQ workers occupy the positions of clerk, documentation technician, acquisitions clerk, delay and billing clerk, filing clerk, material preparation clerk and technical clerk in the 26 service points of the Bibliothèque de Québec network.
