Second collective agreement signed for union members working at Phoenicia warehouse
Montreal, QC – September 3, 2024 – UFCW Local Union 501 is proud to announce the ratification of a second collective agreement for union members working at the Phoenicia warehouse. This new agreement marks a significant step in the improvement of our members’ working conditions.
“UFCW thanks all the members involved in the negotiation process for their commitment and support. Together, we will continue to work for a more just and fair future for all workers. These improvements in the contract reflect our constant engagement to advocate and promote our members’ best interests,” declares UFCW Local 501 President Alain Lachaîne.
This new collective agreement makes provision for salary raises of 6,75%, retroactive to February 22, 2024, followed by annual raises of 2,5% for 2025, 2026, and 2027. These adjustments guarantee a continuous recognition of our members’ hard work and essential contribution.
In 2025, an additional sick day will be granted. Moreover, on September 1, 2024, the union members will gain access to the entirely employer-funded TUAC Québec Dental Care Plan, reinforcing thus the benefits offered to the members.
The new collective agreement also provides for the introduction of a fifth vacation week for the union members with 15 years of seniority, effective on April 30, 2025. On top of these important improvements, many non-monetary clauses were introduced to optimize the working conditions and reinforce the workers’ rights.
UFCW Local 501 represents 19,000 union members working at more than 410 companies across Quebec and northern New Brunswick. To learn more about UFCW Local 501 and its outstanding work, visit the Local Union’s website.
