UFCW reverses deactivation for Uber Eats delivery person
Toronto – December 5, 2024 – In early September, Kamarinos S., an Uber Eats worker, faced a devastating setback when his account was deactivated due to a series of inaccurate ratings.
While in the process of attempting to dispute these ratings, Kamarinos found himself without a source of income and left in a challenging position.
He then contacted UFCW Canada for assistance in getting his account reactivated. Through UFCW Canada’s agreement with Uber Canada, delivery people and drivers like Kamarinos can access representation services from UFCW Canada to assist with account deactivations, licensing issues, background checks, and more.
UFCW Canada provided Kamarinos with support, helping him understand his rights and guiding him through the appeals process with Uber. Thanks to UFCW’s efforts, Kamarinos’ account was reinstated, allowing him to return to work and regain his financial stability.
“UFCW’s dedication to standing up for workers like me made all the difference,” says Kamarinos. “[UFCW] ensured that I wasn’t left behind and empowered me to regain my ability to earn. I’m incredibly grateful for their help in getting my account reinstated and for always having my back when I needed it most,” Kamarinos said.
