Social service workers ratify first contract – UFCW 175 & 633

Hamilton, Ont. – January 23, 2025 – After joining the union last year, the new members at Beth Tikvah Foundation have voted unanimously to ratify their first contract.
Prior to union certification, these members had not seen a wage increase in ten years. Thanks to the union, our members were able to negotiate wage increases for each year of the agreement. Additional improvements include: benefit improvements, dental benefits for part-time workers, long-term disability premiums, more flexible vacation scheduling, improved bereavement leave and sick leave, and more.
The members at Beth Tikvah Foundation are developmental Support Workers at five different locations in and around the city of Hamilton. Workers specialize in providing support to adults with developmental disabilities in group living, intensive support, and independent residences, as well as in-home services.
