Seafood workers join union – UFCW 864

Arichat, N.S. – April 7, 2025 – UFCW 864 welcomes new members as workers at Clearwater Lobster Distribution Centre have voted in favour of joining the union.

The 84 new members work the seafood processing facilities in Arichat, where they hold and ship live lobster year-round. They join other UFCW 864 members at Clearwater Seafoods who work as scallop fishermen, lobster harvesters and more.

UFCW Local 864 is a private-sector labour union representing workers at Cavendish Farms, Atlantic Beef, UPEI, ADL, Beach Point Processing, and O’Leary Co-op. Local 864, along with Locals 1252 and 1288P, makes up the UFCW Eastern Provinces Council which represents over 5,000 workers across Atlantic Canada.
