BDM Scholarship recipient builds bright future

Edmonton – May 6, 2025 – UFCW 401 member Cynthia Philips is the latest recipient of the BDM Scholarship. Philips is her fourth year of study at the University of Alberta, working towards a combined Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Music.

“I am incredibly thankful to have been a recipient of this award,” says Philips. “This support allows me to pursue my education with less financial burden. I intend to pay this support forward to my community by utilizing the skills and knowledge I acquire during my education.”

The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship offers a total of $18,000 in scholarships to UFCW Canada members and their families and is one of more than 25 union scholarships available to members and their relatives every year, totaling more than $300,000 in support.
