New webCampus certificate program: Human Rights Advocate
Toronto – August 22, 2013 – UFCW Canada's groundbreaking education and training program, webCampus, is excited to offer a free new certification program beginning this fall. The 150-hour Human Rights Advocate Certificate program prepares students to better understand human rights laws, as well as minorities and equity-seeking groups.
Course participants will be introduced to the challenges facing the LGBT community and migrant workers in Canada. They will also learn ways to advocate within government and society for disadvantaged or discriminated peoples.
This program consists of free online courses that cover topics such as Canadian activism, women in politics, and union history and renewal, among others. Participants will also complete a final research report that identifies the skills they have learned and presents their research in the human rights field with a union focus.
Registration for the Human Rights Advocate Certificate program is now open. To register for this free new certification program, and to find out more about webCampus, visit www.ufcw.ca/webcampus or call us toll-free at 1-866-865-0202.
