Woodbridge, Ont. – April 3, 2014 – Activists from UFCW Canada Locals 1000A and 12R24 recently participated in a two-week election campaign training course at the Local 1000A office in Woodbridge, Ontario in preparation for a possible provincial election this spring.

The Local Union members were trained in key election campaign roles – such as voter contact and election day organizing – in order to help the Ontario New Democratic Party (ONDP) form a strong, progressive government that stands up for workers' rights and creates good jobs.

The potential spring election is galvanizing workers across the province who want to defeat Tim Hudak’s Conservatives and ensure that the party's reckless, Work For Less agenda never sees the light of day.

“UFCW Canada and its Local Unions are preparing political activists so that they can hit the ground running if and when an election is called,” says UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema. "While the Conservatives claim to have abandoned their Work For Less policies, UFCW Canada members know that Tim Hudak and his party cannot be trusted to govern and that's why this election training is so important," Brother Meinema adds.
