Returns for Leukemia bottle drive, May 24 & 25
Campbellville, Ont. – May 23, 2014 – UFCW Canada members across Ontario are encouraged to support blood cancer research by participating in the annual Returns for Leukemia bottle drive on the weekend of May 24-25, 2014.
A joint initiative between UFCW Canada Local 12R24 and The Beer Store, the Returns for Leukemia bottle drive is an enormously successful campaign that supports the research efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). Throughout the weekend of May 24-25, customers will be invited to donate their empty bottles or cash to this life-saving cause – with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to the LLSC.
As one of the many outreach efforts of Canada's leading and most progressive union, the Returns for Leukemia bottle drive is part of UFCW Canada’s annual fundraising campaign to find a cure and more effective treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Diseases, and other forms of blood cancer.
The total amount of donations collected by UFCW Canada members across Ontario each year is incredible – for instance, last year’s bottle drive raised $1,700,012 for the LLSC! Not only can you make a donation, you can also volunteer at any The Beer Store location to assist with greeting customers and collecting their empties. Volunteers are needed for Saturday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 25 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
