The first ever Montreal International Women’s Conference, held August 13-16 in Montreal, brought together over 200 women activists from around the world to Montreal to launch a global womens’ network focused on the rights and challanges facing working women in both developed and developing countries.
Over the past decade the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour’s Prairie School for Union Women has grown in strength as an annual opportunity for trade union women from across the country to learn from each other and build their leadership and activists skills.
On September 6, Canadians across the country will celebrate Labour Day with friends and family, and continue a long national tradition that goes back nearly 120 years. Certainly a lot of things have changed for working families since the early 1880s, but the idea of working people coming together for justice and progressive change is just as meaningful and relevant as it’s ever been.
UFCW Canada activists joined over 100,000 Quebeckers in Montreal on August 15 to stand tall for basic fairness and equality by participating in the city’s 18th Annual Gay Pride Parade.
