Montreal – June 27, 2014 – UFCW Canada is pleased with the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding Walmart's illegal closing of a unionized store in Jonquière, Quebec. Following a legal saga that lasted nine years, the nation’s highest court has confirmed that Walmart acted illegally when it laid off all 190 employees at its Jonquière store in February 2005.

Toronto – June 30, 2014 – Marking the pinnacle of more than nine days of celebrations, UFCW members from across Canada and the United States united with hundreds of thousands of marchers on the streets of Toronto for the largest global Pride Parade ever held in North America.
Boucherville, Que. – June 30, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 509 members working at Groupe Canam in Boucherville, Quebec recently ratified a new five-year collective agreement that will remain in effect until January 31, 2019. The Groupe Canam employees design and manufacture steel frames.
Toronto – June 30, 2014 – As Canada’s leading union for retail workers, UFCW Canada is committed to representing members who are affected by the restructuring at Sobeys. The Empire Co. Ltd., which owns Sobeys and its banner grocery stores, recently announced that approximately 50 stores will be closed.
