UFCW Canada’s four National Council committees met in Toronto recently to review and discuss their ongoing programs to help build the union and prepare it for the future.
This past weekend at various communities across Canada, many UFCW Canada members joined thousands of other working people and their families to participate in rallies, parades and gatherings to mark International Workers' Day.
For the first time in over 25 years, delegates from every UFCW Canada local union in the Atlantic Region officially came together to share experiences and discuss the issues facing members and non-organized workers in Eastern Canada.
A large group of UFCW Canada members, officers and staff joined hundreds of other activists and civil society organizations across the country on April 28 to remember the fallen and fight for living as part of the National Day of Mourning ceremonies.
UFCW Canada activists joined other labour allies outside the Loblaw Companies headquarters in Brampton, Ontario to protest the callous treatment of more than 100 UFCW Canada RWDSU members who were thrown out of work with only the absolute in minimum severance pay when Loblaw shut its National Grocers distribution warehouse in Sudbury, Ontario.
The Agriculture Workers Alliance (AWA) grows stronger this season with the addition of another new centre — and an expanded outreach agenda to agriculture workers across the country.
Food service workers at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan campus in Kelowna, B.C. have overwhelmingly voted “Yes” to certify UFCW Canada Local 247 as their union and bargaining agent.
