Toronto, ON - February 4, 2013 - A year ago, on February 6, 2012, a horrific collision near Hampstead, Ontario killed ten migrant agriculture workers being transported in a van, as well as the Ontario driver of a flatbed truck. Three other migrant workers who were in the van continue to struggle with shattering injuries. "It is a tragedy waiting to happen again," says Wayne Hanley, the national president of UFCW Canada.

Toronto – February 1, 2013 – In December 1995, Jean Augustine, the first Black woman ever to be elected to the House of Commons, introduced a motion to “take note of the important contribution of black Canadians to the settlement, growth and development of Canada, the diversity of the black community in Canada and its importance to the history of this country, and recognize February as Black History Month.
