Mexico’s largest farm workers union denounces the violation of migrant workers’ labour rights.
Gerardo Sanchez, leader of the Conferederación Nacional Campesina (CNC, Mexico’s largest farm workers union) has presented a motion in the Senate demanding the Minister of Labour to inform the Congress about allegations of anti-union activities against migrant farm workers coming to Canada through the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program. Mexican media are reacting favorably to the CNC’s press release, which started circulating yesterday.
Migrant workers from Mexico and the Caribbean gathered in B.C. and Ontario on June 19 to rally for human rights and to “celebrate” another Father’s Day apart from their families.
