By the Numbers: Income distribution and the poverty line
In 2009,1 in 10 Canadians was considered poor.
The poverty rate for all persons rose from 9.4% to 9.6% compared to 2008.
Child poverty rose from 9.1% in 2008 to 9.5% in 2009.

The Report on Business just released its annual list of Canada’s largest employers for 2010, and once again the country’s biggest food retailers are right up there with the energy giants and the big 5 banks.

The Ontario Health and Safety Act came in effect in 1979 and since then the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has collected data on occupational diseases.
According to Statistics Canada approximately 5.8% of all employees in Canada are working at or below the provincial minimum wage.
