Ottawa – October 3, 2013 – Canada’s leading union, UFCW Canada, has joined labour and social justice activists from across the country in signing the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s (NWAC) joint statement to demand government and community action on more than 600 ‘known’ cases of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.
Toronto – October 2, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists recently joined Egale Canada at the 5th Annual Egale Human Rights Trust Gala to celebrate another year of success. The gala also marked the launch of a groundbreaking report by Egale Canada that offers twenty recommendations for the prevention of suicide among LGBTQ youth in Canada.

Edmonton – September 27, 2013 – Alberta’s largest private-sector Local Union, UFCW 401, is welcoming home care workers in Edmonton to Canada’s leading union, after employees at two facilities – Balwin Villa and Grand Manor – recently voted to improve their living standards by joining the UFCW.
Saskatoon, Sask. – September 26, 2013 – Activists from the UFCW Saskatchewan Provincial Council (UFCW SPC) recently joined over 350 friends, neighbours and community members in downtown Saskatoon for the United Way’s annual Walking Parade, launching this year’s campaign to raise $6.5 million for neighbourhoods and families in need.
Toronto – September 21, 2013 – UFCW Canada Local 1000A members voted on September 20 to ratify a new union contract with Ryding Regency Meatpackers Ltd, bringing to end a lockout that had spanned three weeks.
