Toronto – March 15, 2019 – March 21 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, a day to commemorate the victims of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre in South Africa, and acknowledge the struggles faced by racialized and Indigenous communities around the world.
Ottawa – November 15, 2018 – UFCW Canada was recently invited to deliver testimony to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, which is currently examining a private member’s bill that calls for the recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, as an official federal holiday.
Toronto – September 19, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 1006A activists from across Ontario recently gathered in Toronto for back-to-back conferences to build equity and unity at work and in the community.
Ottawa – August 3, 2018 – There are approximately 370 million Indigenous people living across the globe in 90 countries, speaking over 7,000 languages and representing over 5,000 cultures.
Toronto – August 1, 2018 – UFCW Canada activists from Local 1006A and the national office recently joined thousands of families in Toronto to celebrate community and Caribbean culture at Junior Carnival.
