Toronto – March 29, 2018 – April 4 is recognized across Canada as Refugee Rights Day – a day that commemorates the historic April 4, 1985 ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada that refugee claimants are fully protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Toronto – March 19, 2018 – In 1966, the United Nations declared March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination to commemorate the victims of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre in apartheid-era South Africa — where 69 people were killed by government forces following a peaceful protest against racial discrimination.
Toronto – March 3, 2018 – UFCW Canada recently partnered with Legal Aid Ontario to conduct an information session for workers and community groups on the province’s recent labour law reforms, and to educate workers on how they can join a union.
Toronto – February 14, 2018 – On February 16, hundreds of thousands of Canadians across the country will celebrate the Lunar New Year – the Year of the Dog – by spending time with friends and family in numerous fun-filled activities to mark year 4716 on the lunar calendar.
