Toronto – December 17, 2025 – UFCW Canada, the country’s leading advocate for agricultural workers for over 30 years, has released its annual report on the Status of Migrant Agricultural Workers in Canada, calling for urgent reforms to Canada’s food system.
Ottawa – October 27, 2025 – Employer organizations and the largest union for Canada’s food processing sector are jointly calling on the federal government to create a new, dedicated immigration pathway that provides a route to permanent residency for essential jobs in the food sector.
Toronto – October 21, 2025 – UFCW Canada recently hosted a delegation of officials from the Government of Mexico at its national headquarters in Toronto, as well as at the Agriculture Workers Support Centre in Leamington and various agricultural workplaces in Ontario’s Niagara region. The multi-day visit focused on strengthening the rights and protections of Mexican migrant agricultural workers employed in Canada.
Toronto – October 14, 2025 – Thousands of migrant food workers, including many UFCW members, were able to obtain permanent residency in Canada under the Agri-Food Pilot Program. Now, with the pilot finished, migrant food workers have very few options to build a life in Canada.
Leamington, Ont. – June 9, 2025 – UFCW Canada has launched a new legal case challenging Health Canada’s unlawful failure to protect agricultural workers by not enforcing safety data sheet requirements under the federal Pest Control Products Act (PCPA). Without access to critical information about the chemicals they are handling, agricultural workers are unable to protect themselves from hazardous pesticides at work.
Toronto – May 9, 2025 – UFCW Canada is proud to support the release of a groundbreaking new report calling for the establishment of enforceable national housing standards for migrant agricultural workers across Canada.
