Ottawa – June 28, 2013 – UFCW Canada members, friends and supporters once again led the way in mobilizing communities for positive, political change by sending hundreds of letters to Canadian Senators: calling on them to reject Stephen Harper’s attack on workers and their unions – Bill C-377.
Ottawa – June 27, 2013 – A newly released report by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) and Save the Children Canada has found that half of all First Nations children in Canada are living in dire poverty.
Ottawa – June 19, 2013 – The Harper Government’s attack on workers, Bill C-377, is now back for final debate in the Senate. The Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce tabled the legislation by a vote of 6 to 5 with one Conservative Senator abstaining from the vote.
Toronto – June 12, 2013 – With his government’s reputation for transparency and accountability in tatters over the Senate scandal, Harper tries to change the channel by once again going after his favourite target: Canada’s workers.
Toronto – June 5, 2013 – Activists are gearing up for UFCW Canada's Walk in Support of First Nations Children on June 11th, the National Day of Reconciliationwith Aboriginal communities. The event is part of the Our Dreams Matter Too Campaign, an initiative that is being led by UFCW Canada's national partner, the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada (FNCFCS).
