UFCW Canada ROLLS WITH THE DECLARATION to demand Harper Tories implement UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
Recently, UFCW Canada joined its community partner, KAIROS Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives, in culminating its Roll with the Declaration campaign in Ottawa. More than 500 travellers, banner makers, indigenous elders, religious leaders, community activists and supporters gathered at Victoria Island on Algonquin territory (a.k.a. Ottawa, Ontario).

Hundreds of UFCW Canada activists and members joined in the fun and revelry on July 30 at the Caribana festival parade in Toronto. It was the spectacular conclusion of the annual two-week cultural festival inspired by the tradition of West Indian Carnival — with floats, bands, festive costumes, and hundreds of thousands of people lining the parade route.

More than 1,900 women activists, students, researchers and trade unionists recently gathered in Ottawa, July 3 to 7, for the 2011 Women's Worlds Congress. UFCW Canada was one of the event's sponsors, which every three years draws participants from around the world to explore how issues like equality, human rights, economics, labour rights, and education impact women.
