UFCW Canada is building union pride. Join us in your city to celebrate dignity and respect for all.
It is sometimes hard to envision how racism can continue to plague us in our increasingly globalized world. One would think that on a planet where an African-American man governs the predominantly white United States, a Korean man leads the United Nations, and a black woman from the global South stands as the Governor General of Canada, issues of race would by now be historical facts reviewed by elementary teachers as ways in which people acted in the past, but are now viewed through the lens of “never again.”
UFCW Canada is calling on all members to stand in solidarity with their fellow workers and UFCW brothers and sisters in the United States by supporting a boycott against the State of Arizona, which recently passed a law that allows for greater discrimination against the State’s large and growing number of racialized residents and workers.
Homophobia and transphobia, like all forms of bigotry, are shameful and dangerous because they feed hate and propel inequality.
For over two hundred years Asian newcomers to Canada have enriched this country with their culture, traditions, talents and community building. They have come to Canada from East Asia, Southern Asia, Western and Southeast Asia, and have contributed to Canada’s diversity and prosperity.
The members of the UFCW United Latinos Executive Board recently gathered in Toronto to talk about the critical issues facing Latino North American workers, plan for the upcoming United Latinos Convention in Las Vegas, and mark the group's first-ever meeting in Canada.
