Toronto – August 22, 2013 – UFCW Canada's groundbreaking education and training program, webCampus, is excited to offer a free new certification program beginning this fall. The 150-hour Human Rights Advocate Certificate program prepares students to better understand human rights laws, as well as minorities and equity-seeking groups.
Saskatoon – July 23, 2013 – UFCW Canada women activists from across Saskatchewan gathered recently in Saskatoon for the annual UFCW Saskatchewan Women’s Conference as UFCW Canada sisters from the province convened to celebrate labour rights, and to strategize in pushing against the ultra-Conservative attack on working families, and the impact of that attack on Saskatchewan workplaces, employees and their communities.
Toronto – June 9, 2013 – As reported in the Toronto Star, the federal Canadian Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart has found that Dr. Cindy Blackstock, Executive Director of the First Nations Children and Family Caring Society (FNCFCS), has been the subject of surveillance by the Tory Government in Ottawa.
Ottawa – May 7, 2013 – On average, women in Canada earn 32 percent less than men. That means that on average, a woman makes only 68 cents for every dollar a man makes. It varies by province. For instance, in Ontario it’s 28 per cent.
