Saskatchewan women activists gather for first-ever forum

Saskatoon, Sask. – January 25, 2013 – UFCW Canada women activists recently joined more than 150 sisters from across Saskatchewan, as labour, community and social activists gathered in Saskatoon for the first-ever Saskatchewan Women’s Forum 2013: Connecting Voices for Change – to share their stories, connect with each other, and discuss issues relevant to women in Saskatchewan and all over the world.

Local 649 consists of one bargaining unit at Federated Co-operatives Limited in Saskatoon, with five separate and unique sites — head office, warehouse, feed mill, Saskatoon propane plant, and Melfort propane plant.

Every year, on December 6, the Manitoba Federation of Labour Women’s Committee organizes a memorial luncheon to honour and remember the women who died in Montreal in 1989. The gathering also pays tribute to the women from Manitoba who have died senselessly, due to violence.
