Food Retail Workers ratify new contract – UFCW 832

Langley, B.C. – June 18, 2025 – Ashley Baresinkoff is a proud member of UFCW Local 247, working in the retail grocery sector for more than a decade. She is a member of the UFCW Canada Indigenous Committee and her local union’s Member Engagement Committee. In the fall of 2024, she also became a recipient of the 2024 Equity Grant program under the Community Action stream.
Toronto – June 17, 2025 – Thousands of migrant food workers, including many UFCW members, were able to obtain permanent residency in Canada under the Agri-Food Pilot Program. Now, with the pilot finished, migrant food workers have very few options to build a life in Canada.

Geneva – June 11, 2025 – Workers’ rights are in free fall across every continent, according to the 2025 ITUC Global Rights Index, with Europe and the Americas recording their worst scores since the Index began in 2014.
