Latin American migrant workers brutally massacred in Mexico

On August 24, 2010, the bodies of 72 migrants from Central and South America were found in San Fernando, Mexico, approximately 100 km south of the U.S. border. The migrant workers included 58 men and 14 women. All of them had been shot dead and piled in a room.

Leading the way on Labour Day

UFCW Canada activists came out in full force on September 6 to join working families at Labour Day parades, picnics and other community events. At one of Canada’s largest and most time-honoured Labour Day festivities – the Toronto Labour Day Parade – several UFCW Canada local unions combined their presence to create one of the biggest groups in the celebration.

Mike Freeman, 1954-2010

Mike Freeman s’est dévoué pendant plus de 20 ans à aider le mouvement syndical canadien à trouver les mots et à créer les images qui feraient une différence dans la vie des travailleurs. Membre de longue date de la grande famille des TUAC, le confrère Freeman est décédé subitement le 13 avril au bureau national, alors qu’il accomplissait ce à quoi il était destiné et qu’il aimait tant. Il avait 55 ans.

Les TUAC Canada et leurs alliés communautaires envoient un message progressiste au congrès Metropolis

Plus de deux douzaines de militants des TUAC Canada provenant des quatre coins du pays ont récemment assisté au 12e congrès national de Metropolis tenu à Montréal. Le thème du congrès de cette année était l’Immigration et la diversité – au carrefour des cultures et au cœur du développement économique.

Le Sommet sur la croissance montre que la syndicalisation n’a pas encore atteint son apogée

Le programme Un syndicat, une voix des TUAC – qui est la création des délégués du sixième congrès international des TUAC en 2008 – a fait un important pas en avant la semaine dernière à Toronto avec la tenue du premier Sommet sur la croissance des TUAC Canada, auquel ont participé plus de 160 syndicalistes et dirigeants syndicaux des TUAC Canada provenant de partout au pays.
